greenland, usa - Greenland's Prime Minister expresses readiness to collaborate with US President Trump on purchasing Greenland, while Republicans in Congress introduce a bill granting Trump authorization to buy Greenland from Denmark.

Prime Minister of Greenland, Mute Bourup Egede, stated that they are ready to collaborate with US President Trump on buying Greenland. In the US, Republicans in Congress introduced a bill granting President Trump authorization to buy Greenland from Denmark...

Local Greenlandic media, KNR, reported that Egede emphasized Greenland's strategic location in the region, mentioning that major powers like the US, Russia, and China could try to benefit from it. Egede stated that this situation can be seen as an opportunity for collaboration rather than a threat, highlighting that they are open to investors in the mining sector.

Egede said, "We have started a dialogue with Trump and are looking for opportunities for collaboration." The Prime Minister also expressed concern over Trump's statements about Greenland, emphasizing the importance of avoiding military conflicts.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the US Congress introduced a bill in the House of Representatives granting President Trump the authority to engage in negotiations with Denmark to purchase Greenland. The bill, titled 'Let's Make Greenland Great Again Act,' was prepared by Republican congressman Andy Ogles.

The bill, which has support from many Republicans in the House of Representatives, allows Trump to negotiate with Denmark to buy Greenland when he takes office. It seems likely that Republicans, who hold the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, will pass the bill in both chambers.

In his social media post on Truth Social on December 23, 2024, Trump reiterated his belief that Greenland should be under US control, calling it an "absolute necessity" to own and control the territory. Trump's remarks drew criticism from Greenland officials and various sectors.

Prime Minister Egede, in a written statement, emphasized that Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland and is not for sale, stating, "We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We will not lose our long-standing struggle for freedom."
