Eight dead after stampede for food in Zambia

lusaka - In a rush of food in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka, on Monday at least eight people died. There were also 28 injured when thousands of poor people trying to grab food parcels, police said.

Police have launched an investigation into the deadly storming after 35. 000 people trying to enter a sports complex where the Church of Christ handing out food parcels.

In Zambia, lives 60 percent of people below the poverty line and 42 percent are extremely poor, says the World Bank.
