n'djamena, chad - An attack on the Presidential Palace in Chad's capital city of N'Djamena has been foiled, according to reports. The Foreign Minister of Chad, Abderaman Koulamallah, stated that the situation is under control, while the media in Chad claimed that the attack was carried out by Boko Haram.

An attack on the Presidential Palace in N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, was prevented, as announced by the Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah. He stated that the situation is under control and there is nothing to worry about, describing it as a minor incident. Further details will be disclosed to the public later.

The Chad press, however, based on security sources, alleged that the attack was carried out by Boko Haram militants. Some Boko Haram militants were reportedly captured alive during the clash, and footage recorded after the attack was caught on camera.

Earlier, gunshots were heard near the Presidential Palace in N'Djamena, with reports indicating that armed individuals targeted the Presidential Palace. All roads leading to the Presidential Palace were closed off, and military vehicles were seen in the streets of the capital, raising concerns of a possible coup.

After the death of Chad's President Idriss Deby Itno on the battlefield in April 2021, his 37-year-old son, General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, dissolved the parliament and established a military transitional council. Itno was elected president with 61% of the votes in the elections held on May 6, 2024. Chad went to the polls on December 29, 2024, with approximately 8 million voters participating in legislative and municipal elections.
