watertown - The disappearance of Ryan Borgwardt after a canoe trip led to weeks of search operations, only to reveal suspicions of a staged death by the father of three.

Months of search efforts yielded no results after Ryan Borgwardt, a 44-year-old man from Wisconsin, disappeared following a canoe trip. His abandoned car was found along with his capsized canoe, swim vest, fishing rod, wallet, and keys, but Borgwardt himself was nowhere to be found. Despite relentless search operations by family and friends, including divers diving up to 72 meters deep, no trace of him was discovered.

It was not until nearly two months after his disappearance that the police made a shocking discovery. The sheriff of Green Lake County revealed that Borgwardt is suspected of faking his own death to start a new life without bidding farewell to his family. Suspicion arose when Borgwardt's passport was last recorded in Canada a day after his disappearance and when he initiated a substantial life insurance policy, erased his laptop history, transferred money to a foreign account, and engaged with a woman in Uzbekistan online.

Addressing the press about these revelations, the sheriff expressed the difficulty faced by Borgwardt's children, who had believed their father had drowned but now know otherwise. The wife of Borgwardt had prior knowledge of his alleged actions and is urged by the sheriff to reach out.
