washington - President Joe Biden and his staff are discussing the possibility of granting preemptive pardons to individuals who may face hostility from a new Trump administration.

President Joe Biden and his advisors are considering the option of granting preemptive pardons to individuals who may face challenges from a potentially hostile new Trump administration.

Among those under consideration for pardons are former medical chief advisor Anthony Fauci, retired General Mark Milley who referred to Trump as a 'fascist,' Senator Adam Schiff who led the first impeachment proceedings against Trump, and former congresswoman Liz Cheney, a Republican and outspoken critic of Trump.

It is unclear whether the individuals being considered for pardons are willing to accept them. Cheney and Fauci have not responded to requests for comments, as reported by The New York Times. Schiff stated that he does not believe blanket pardons would be a good idea. 'I would urge the President not to do that,' he told Politico.

However, Biden's top staff members are becoming increasingly concerned about Trump's choices for key law enforcement positions, such as Kash Patel, Trump's pick for FBI director, as reported by The Washington Post. Patel has advocated for retaliation against Trump's opponents and critics.

The discussions, initially reported by Politico, were confirmed by two sources familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity, as reported by The Washington Post.
