south korea - In South Korea, police conducted a search at Muan International Airport where a plane crash resulted in the death of 179 people. The search was related to suspected professional negligence leading to fatalities.

In South Korea, police carried out a search at Muan International Airport following the plane crash that claimed the lives of 179 individuals. The authorities stated that a search warrant was issued for suspected professional negligence resulting in fatalities as part of the investigation.

According to Yonhap, officials mentioned that a search warrant was issued at Muan International Airport aviation office and Jeju Air as part of the investigation into the crash.

The Boeing 737-800 single-aisle plane operating as Jeju Air 7C2216 on the Bangkok-Muan route skidded off the runway in the South Korean city of Muan after its landing gear failed to deploy, crashing into a wall.

The aircraft, carrying 6 crew members and 175 passengers, resulted in the loss of 179 lives.

According to the National Fire Agency, only a woman in her 30s and a man in his 20s from the crew survived after the crash.

Officials indicated that the crash was caused by a malfunction in the landing gear of the aircraft, mentioning that the plane failed to deploy its landing gear on the first attempt and crashed during the emergency landing on the second attempt.

Following what is considered the deadliest disaster in South Korean aviation history, the country declared a 7-day national mourning period.
