Olivier Giroud to Join Lille After Terminating LAFC Deal

Olivier Giroud has agreed to terminate his contract with LAFC and will make a comeback to Ligue 1 with French club Lille this summer, as per sources.

Return to Ligue 1

The 2018 World Cup winner decided to leave LAFC with six months remaining on his contract to return to France after 13 years away from Ligue 1.

New Role at Lille

Giroud, 39, is expected to sign a two-year deal with Lille, who finished fifth last season and will compete in the Europa League next season, aiming to bring experience to the team.

After a challenging stint in the MLS with LAFC, Giroud will replace Jonathan David, departing the club, to lead Lille's young squad.

During his time in the U.S., Giroud scored five goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, struggling to find his form.

The former Arsenal striker's return to Ligue 1 follows his successful spell with Montpellier, where he contributed to a surprising title win in 2012 before moving to the Premier League.
