Tourist Attacked by Crocodile in Philippine Zoo

A tourist at Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands in the Philippines was injured after being bitten by a crocodile while trying to take a selfie next to the reptile.

Reckless Selfie Attempt Turns Dangerous

The ill-advised move led to the tourist getting a severe bite on his arm and leg, with the crocodile refusing to release its grip, dragging him into the water.

The victim's screams of pain were captured by onlookers filming the ordeal.

Rescue Operation

Local police chief Joel Sajolga explained that the tourist mistakenly believed the crocodile was fake, venturing close to take a picture. The animal attacked him as he climbed over the enclosure.

After thirty minutes, a caretaker intervened by throwing a bag of cement at the crocodile's head, forcing it to let go. The tourist received immediate medical attention on-site before being transported to the hospital, where he received over fifty stitches.

Authorities Warn Against Dangerous Behavior

Sajolga emphasized the peril of such actions, stating that entering an animal enclosure is extremely hazardous and should never be attempted.

Witness Canete Jie expressed relief that the man survived the incident, questioning the rationale behind such a risky decision.
