Atlético Madrid Signs Álex Baena, Johnny Cardoso to Follow

Atlético Madrid has finalized the signing of Spanish midfielder Álex Baena for approximately €50 million, with United States international Johnny Cardoso expected to join next, according to sources.

Baena, 23, has inked a five-year contract with Atlético, pending the official announcement, after passing his medical assessment. The club negotiated a €50 million deal with Villarreal, including bonuses.

Strengthening the Squad

Baena's arrival adds to Atlético's summer signings, which also include Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta. The club's next target is Real Betis' Johnny Cardoso. Atlético manager Diego Simeone is also eyeing Tottenham's Cristian Romero to bolster the defense.

However, negotiations for Romero's transfer are still ongoing, with no imminent agreement between the clubs.
