China mine accident deaths

beijing - Certainly seventeen miners in China were killed by a mine accident. The bodies of the men were found four days after the accident. It reports the Chinese news agency Xinhua Monday.

The accident happened Thursday in the Dongrong Mine in Heilongjiang Province. The workers were in an elevator cage came crashing down when the cable where the elevator was hanging on by burning.

' I was underground at work when the accident happened. In the shaft I smelled something burning you breath cut off and certainly took half an hour, '' said a worker who was rescued after six hours. According to another, there was no question of an explosion.

China's mines are the most dangerous in the world. Every year, thousands of miners lost their lives. Poor security, lack of supervision and cronyism are often seen as the cause. China is the world's largest producer and consumer of coal.
