Ant Smuggling Incident

The 19-year-old David and 18-year-old Seppe were arrested on suspicion of ant smuggling on April 5th. The police found 2440 test tubes filled with ants in their hostel room near Lake Naivasha, including 5000 African harvest ant queens, known for their intricate tunnel systems and group behavior.

Legal Proceedings

The teenagers claimed they never intended to illegally export the ants but were offered to buy them during their trip in Kenya, along with export documents. They admitted naivety and were caught by the police before the papers arrived.
