paris - During riots on the evening of the first round of the French presidential election, the police arrested 29 people. Police clash and left-wing protesters clashed 143 people, a police spokesman said Monday.
Six police officers and three protesters became light-wounded. Especially at Place de la Bastille and Place de la République it had collided. At the vote, the right-populated Marine Le Pen and Social Liberal Emmanuel Macron qualified for the second round on 7 May.
Anti-fascist and anti-capitalist groups had called for a 'Night of the Barricades' on the election evening through posters and graffiti. The police were massively present.
