brussels - No car could be seen in dozens of Belgian city centers. Among others, Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Ostend, Kortrijk and Mechelen participated in Autoloze Zondag. 'By car-free streets, cities and municipalities are not only more livable, but sustainable transport is also good for the environment and health', according to the organizers. In Brussels, the entire public transport was free on Sundays.
King Philip, Queen Mathilde and their children, Princess Eleonore and Prince Emmanuel, also participated in the day. They cycled from the palace through Brussels to a business center.
