mexico - Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas joins Liga MX's Pumas from Newell's on a $2 million deal. The three-time Champions League winner is set to debut this week.

Keylor Navas Moves to Liga MX's Pumas from Newell's

Costa Rica's Keylor Navas has agreed to a one-year deal with Mexican club Pumas, departing Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. Pumas will pay a transfer fee of $2 million for the experienced goalkeeper.

Immediate Debut and Leagues Cup Participation

Navas, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, is expected to make his debut in an upcoming league match against Querétaro. He will also feature in the Leagues Cup next week, competing against Atlanta United, Orlando City, and Inter Miami CF.

At 38, Navas had a short stint with Newell's, making 16 appearances before his move to Pumas. The decision to bring him to Liga MX comes after Pumas sought a replacement for departing goalkeeper Álex Padilla, who returned to Athletic Club.

A Career of Success

Navas, known for his success in Concacaf, has an impressive resume with multiple championships, including LaLiga, Club World Cup, and Super Cup titles with Real Madrid, as well as three Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain.

His move to Pumas not only fulfills his desire to play in Liga MX but also brings him closer to his homeland, Costa Rica. Navas, who briefly retired, recently captained his national team at the Gold Cup, showcasing his continued passion for the sport.

Newell's bid farewell to Navas, emphasizing the club's commitment to unity, effort, and teamwork. The Costa Rican goalkeeper's arrival at Pumas adds experience and skill to the Mexican side, enhancing their roster for upcoming competitions.
