pompein - Researchers have found a decapitated body at excavations in Pompeii, which was buried under Vesuvius ash in 79 AD and stones from the volcano. It concerns the remains of a man who was probably about 35 years old at the time of his death, message news agency ANSA.

Archaeologists suspect that the man looked at the eruption when he was hit by a 300-pound rock. That's why he lost his head. An injury to the man's leg would have made it impossible to flee in time for the natural disaster.

The leader of the excavation at the ancient Roman city, Massimo Osanna, called the find 'dramatic and exceptional'.
