london - Ringo Starr, the drummer of the legendary band The Beatles, has been knighted for his merits for the music. The 77-year-old received the award from Prince William during a ceremony in Buckingham Palace.

The knight hit came 53 years after the four Beatles received the 'Member of the British Empire' award. According to Starr, he missed the company of the band members this time. ' I was a little shaky on my own '', he told the BBC.

Starr, who is actually Richard Starkey, does not know yet if he wants to go through life as Sir Ringo. But to the BBC he said: 'I assume that you use the title. ''

Singer Paul McCartney was knighted 21 years ago.
