mumbai - The 64-year-old CEO of Larsen & Toubro conglomerate in Mumbai is facing criticism after urging employees to work up to 90 hours a week to increase productivity.

The 64-year-old CEO of the conglomerate Larsen & Toubro in Mumbai recently said in a video call with employees, "Why would you sit at home? Aren't you tired of looking at your wife's face?" He would like to see his staff work 90 hours a week to further increase productivity, similar to what he believes Chinese people do. "Get to work, guys. Come on!"

Subrahmanyan's call has received a lot of criticism. It is argued that no one can sustain such long working hours and it would only lead to burnout. People also point out the significant financial gap between top executives of large companies, like Subrahmanyan, and the executive staff, as reported by The Times of India.

The businessman in question reportedly earns about seven million dollars annually for his work. Indian social media users highlight that he has it easy, given that he earns over five hundred times the salary of an average employee in his company. Subrahmanyan emphasized in a New Year's video to employees that he enjoys working on Sundays.
