- Apple wants to open its own stores in India, one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world. It has submitted a request to do so by the Indian Ministry of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

Apple is looking for new opportunities because in its principal markets, including the United States and China, there is a declining growth. Currently, Apple sells iPhones, iPads and Macs in India through third-party sales channels. According to estimates by analysts, Apple's market share in India less than two percent. The smartphone market in India is dominated by cheaper brands.

The company from Cupertino operates more than 450 stores in 18 countries. In China, more than 25 stores. In India no. The latter is mainly due to the stringent policy on foreign investment in the Indian retail industry. Overseas retailers are required to almost a third of the goods they sell to take off in their store from local producers. According to insiders, Apple has discussed with Indian drivers on easing of this investment norm before the application was submitted.
