kktc - KKTC President Tatar stated that 2024 was a year of recovery for KKTC despite attacks by Greek Cypriots in the fields of economy, tourism, and education.

KKTC President Ersin Tatar evaluated 2024, stating that it was a year of intense activity for them. Tatar emphasized the importance of his foreign contacts due to meetings in the US, Australia, and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Tatar highlighted the significant efforts made last year in terms of expanding the foreign policy and increasing the recognition of KKTC. He stated that in 2025, they will continue their policies on sovereign equality and equal international politics in the Cyprus issue.

Stating that the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people on the island is the cornerstone of peace and tranquility in the region within the integrity of the motherland Turkey, Tatar continued his words: "Despite Greek Cypriot attacks on the economy, tourism, and education, 2024 was a year of recovery for KKTC after the pandemic. Economically, in terms of tourism, and other areas, KKTC has started to return to its former values after the pandemic. Despite the dialogue rhetoric of Southern Cyprus, the events of 2024 include the arrest of foreigners investing in KKTC, bringing up the issue of diplomas at a university, and targeting KKTC universities, as well as efforts to prevent tourists coming to KKTC from the South."

Referring to the bloodshed and tears shed in Gaza and Lebanon in 2024, KKTC President Tatar stated, "We have seen what happened in Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, and previously in Bosnia. I would like to once again share with the Turkish public how precious peace and tranquility are. I would like to thank our motherland Turkey for providing peace and tranquility."

Congratulating the new year of the entire Turkish world, especially Turkey, Tatar wished 2025 to be a better, more beautiful, peaceful, and tranquil year.
