Chelsea Sends Caleb Wiley on Loan to Watford

Chelsea has once again loaned American defender Caleb Wiley to second-tier Watford after his previous loan spell with the Hornets. The 20-year-old left back, a US national team prospect, originally joined Chelsea from MLS club Atlanta United and was loaned to Strasbourg last season.

Loan History and Injuries

During his loan at Strasbourg, Wiley had limited appearances before sustaining a shoulder injury in November. Following surgery and recovery, Chelsea cut short his loan and sent him to Watford, where he made his debut on March 8.

Wiley, who has made three appearances for the U.S. national team and featured in the Olympic soccer tournament, signed a six-year contract with Chelsea after a transfer fee of around $11 million.
