valencia - The Spanish meteorological service AEMET has issued a code red warning for Valencia, where more than two hundred people died in floods just two weeks ago. It is the most severe warning the service can issue. Heavy rainfall of 180 millimeters is expected in half a day. Other regions in Spain are also at risk.

The code red alert is in place until Thursday afternoon 12:00. Besides the Valencia region, warnings have been issued for Catalonia and Malaga. In Andalusia, over a thousand homes have been evacuated, while around three thousand residents in Malaga have been affected.

Prior to this, bad weather in Spain had already caused disruptions in transportation. The high-speed train from Madrid to Malaga has been halted, and the metro service in Malaga is also suspended. A tennis match for the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga has been postponed.

The ongoing issues in Valencia may be exacerbated by clogged drains filled with mud from the previous flooding disaster two weeks ago. The previous floods claimed 223 lives and resulted in billions of euros in damages. Many residents felt abandoned by the authorities, accusing them of delayed responses and inadequate actions.
