Secret 'treasure' in ancient statue

melbourne - Specialists from the Australian auction Moss Green in Melbourne have discovered an ancient banknote in about evenoud statuette from the fourteenth century. The sculpture dates from the period of China's Ming Dynasty which lasted from 1368 to 1644. That reports CNN.

'This is the first time, as far as we know, that a banknote has been discovered in a wooden Buddhist image,' says Ray Tregaskis, head of Asian art auction Moss Green. 'We were surprised, amazed, and when we (the text) had translated, very excited!'

For Tregaskis was the discovery of his life. He examined the underside of the wooden Buddha image, when he chanced behind the historic discovery. In the cavity of the skull, he found a crumpled piece of paper. After closer inspection, it turned out to be a 700-year-old Ming dynasty banknote, which is among the earliest printed currency in China. The period under Emperor Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang- the founder and first emperor of the Ming dynasty- was a prosperous period characterized by strong international trade and a growing population.

It is almost impossible to find out exactly how the money has come into the picture. Due dates that were on the paper, they were able to estimate the antiquity of the bill. It is not clear what is the value that is described on the banknote. The note and the picture together to retrieve estimated that between 27 000 and 42 000.
