hannover - US President Obama has seized the mini-summit in Hanover Monday for Europe to call to hold on to its unity and tolerance. The world benefits from a free Europe at peace, says Obama.
The president dubbed the formation of a united Europe half a billion people and 24 different languages as a political achievement. A strong Europe contributes to the welfare of the world, he said. He praised passing Konrad Adenauer, the chancellor of postwar Germany and one of the driving forces behind the formation of a European community.
The plea for unity within European borders mainly refers to the forthcoming referendum in Britain, where the inhabitants speak on June 23 about whether their country should leave the European Union.
