Ukrainian President Zelenskiy's Statements
During the Munich Security Conference, President Zelenskiy highlighted the need for Ukraine to have a say in choosing the participants for potential peace negotiations to end the ongoing war in the country.
Zelenskiy stressed that the war is happening in Ukraine and, therefore, it is crucial for Ukraine to have the authority to decide who will be involved in the peace talks. He also mentioned the necessity of foreign troops being deployed in Ukraine for security guarantees and called on the U.S. to play a role in this regard.
Addressing rumors about refusing to sign an agreement that would involve transferring half of Ukraine's rare earth elements to American companies in exchange for military support, Zelenskiy clarified that the document is still being worked on and needs to align with Ukraine's interests and security requirements.
Zelenskiy expressed optimism about achieving success in collaboration with the U.S. and Europe, stating that real peace is possible with the contributions of these allies.
