YouTube restrictions for weapon videos

YouTube restrictions for weapon videos

World March 21, 2018 21:51

washington - YouTube has quietly introduced stricter regulations this week for videos in which weapons play a role. This fits in with the blown-up battle in the US to restrict the possession of war guns.

The popular media platform, part of Google (Alphabet), captures videos that promote firearms or refer to sites where they are offered for sale with all kinds of accessories. This includes the so-called 'bump stock', which allows a semi-automatic rifle to fire bullets even faster.

YouTube also says that it is going to remove images that show how weapons should be put together. This happened after a strong criticism of videos with instructions about, among other things, making bombs. For the weapon lover, YouTube was always a pleasure resort. Recently, a search with the keywords 'how to build a gun' yielded 25 million hits, although it was also often about toys.
