scheveningen - Carolijn Brouwer is the first Dutch woman to win the sailing race around the world. The 44-year-old pro from Scheveningen was the first to cross the finish line of the eleventh and final stage with her Chinese team Dongfeng in The Hague.

With that, the boat of the French skipper Charles Caudrelier secured the victory in the thirteenth edition of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Team Brunel did not manage to win the Volvo Ocean Race for their own audience. The Dutch boat of skipper Bouwe Bekking ran out of speed and finished fourth in the final stage.

Team Dongfeng took a completely different course in the final stage than Team AkzoNobel, Mapfre and Brunel.
