perm, central russia - Crumbs of Kroshik, the world's fattest cat, has passed away at the age of twelve due to cancer. Despite efforts to help him lose weight, tumors were discovered too late for treatment.

Crumbs of Kroshik, known as the world's fattest cat, has sadly passed away at the age of twelve in central Russia. Weighing a staggering 17 kilograms at one point, the overweight feline had been staying in a specialized weight loss animal clinic in Perm. After shedding a few kilograms, tumors were revealed. However, it was already too late as the cancer had metastasized.

An autopsy is expected to show that Crumbs' spleen was affected. The owner of the shelter where he resided, Galiana More, told local media, "The cat started choking two days ago and was put on oxygen."

Before his health struggles, Crumbs had a remarkable journey. Rescued from a hospital basement in Perm, where he was overfed with meats, soups, and cookies by well-meaning individuals, he was once too obese to walk. Through a special underwater treadmill program, he made notable progress, even jumping onto furniture in his enclosure. His instinct remained intact, as he once found himself in a nurse's shoe closet after attempting to escape.
