Work Picasso and Monet sold for 30 million

new york - At an auction in New York Sunday, a painting by Pablo Picasso and one by Claude Monet went under the hammer for each $ 30 million (26.5 million euros). A total of 61 works were offered, but not for each painting a buyer was found.
The auction brought all together $ 279.2 million, almost 26 million less than the estimated value. Monet's water lilies went under the hammer for $ 31.8 million, making it the most expensive work of the evening. Picasso's La Lampe followed with $ 29.6 million.
A Van Gogh was also offered during the auction with works by impressionist and modern artists. But the work of an estimated $ 40 million was not sold.
