Winter weather already causes avalanche danger

brienz/innsbruck - The approaching winter has caused snow and avalanche danger in a large part of the Alps. Austrian and Swiss media speak Monday of a very high avalanche danger from 1800 meters altitude where 50 to 80 centimeters of snow lies.
Higher is much more. The strong wind increases the avalanche danger and all mountain passes in Switzerland are closed on Monday, reported the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
