bern - A whirlwind has blown a railway car out of the rails in Switzerland. The accident occurred north of the village of Lenk in the Bernese Oberland. The wagon has landed on its side next to the track and eight people have been injured. But the mayor of Lenk, René Müller, said that things went well under certain circumstances.

The northern side of the Swiss Alps is suffering a lot from the storm that rages across Europe. For example, winter sports enthusiasts are stuck in a gondola ski lift in the Pizol ski area in the Canton of St. Gallen, after fallen trees had fallen on cables.

One of the most important roads in the country, the A1 motorway, had to be completely closed on the Zürich- Bern route north of the capital (Bern) on Wednesday afternoon after cars had been blown down. A wind speed of 195 kilometers per hour was measured in Switzerland.
