geneva - The World Health Organization (WHO) increased its assessment of the public health risk of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 'high' to 'very high' at national level.

The organization announced this Friday after a case of ebola was confirmed in the city of Mbandaka. According to the agency, this is 'a large urban center located on major national and international routes for rivers, roads and domestic flights'.

So far, 23 fatal cases of Ebola have been detected in the more isolated areas, where it was easier for authorities to control the virus. 'We are entering a new phase of the Ebola outbreak, which now affects three areas, including an urban environment,' said Minister Oly Ilunga Kalenga of Health.
