washington, d.c. - The White House National Security Communications Advisor, John Kirby, stated that they understand Turkey's legitimate security concerns regarding the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.

The White House National Security Communications Advisor, John Kirby, held a press briefing at the Foreign Press Center in Washington, evaluating the foreign policy agenda of the Joe Biden administration.

Kirby emphasized that they closely monitor developments in Syria in terms of both the transition process and the fight against ISIS, as well as shared their approach to both Turkey's security concerns and the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.

Responding to a question, Kirby said, 'We understand Turkey's legitimate security concerns along the (Syria) border. Turkish citizens and cities there have been attacked by terrorists crossing that border. Turks have the full right to defend themselves against terrorist attacks; we understand this and are in active discussions with the Turks on this matter.'

Additionally, Kirby claimed that the mission against ISIS should not be disrupted and they do not want the focus of the SDG (PKK/YPG terrorist organization) in Syria to shift from the fight against ISIS to other issues.

Assessing the presence of US troops in Syria, Kirby commented, 'We have a small military presence in Syria and our soldiers are truly there for one purpose, to continue the fight against ISIS.'

Kirby stated that the resurgence of ISIS in the transition process in Syria should not be allowed, emphasized their partnerships with the SDG (PKK/YPG terrorist organization) in Syria, and expressed their desire for this collaboration to continue.
