pandeglang - The area in Indonesia that was hit by a tsunami on Saturday is very active seismically. There are many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
The deadly tsunami of Saturday was probably caused by a submarine landslide at the volcano Anak Krakatau. It lies between Java and Sumatra. The island is quite new: it only arose in 1927. The island is formed by the magma from a submarine volcano.
