Venezuelan ambassador may not enter Canada

toronto - The Canadian government has decided to ban the Venezuelan ambassador. The countries are at odds with each other about the human rights situation in Venezuela. 'Canada does not remain on the sidelines while the Venezuelan government deprives its people of fundamental democratic and human rights,' said Minister Chrystia Freeland (Foreign Affairs).

Freeland announced on Monday that the ambassador of Venezuela does not enter her country anymore. Ottawa also declares the Venezuelan affairs affiliates 'persona non grata. 'Venezuela had already recalled the ambassador after Canada had instituted sanctions earlier this year.

The immediate reason for excluding the diplomats is a comparable move by the Venezuelans. According to Freeland they reported that the Canadian chargé d'affair is no longer welcome in the South American country. 'That is typical of the Maduro regime, which has continually undermined all efforts to restore democracy and help the Venezuelan people,' the minister said.
