Venezuela releases more political prisoners

caracas - Political prisoners were again released in Venezuela. The group of forty men was set free by President Nicolás Maduro as a kind of peace gesture, after Friday already 39 political opponents were allowed to leave the prison.

The releases follow the re-election of Maduro as president. He was re-elected last month in a ballot box that was internationally regarded as completely unfair.

Opponents of the regime are not at all satisfied with this gesture. According to them, the list of releases is longer than the actual number of people released. It would include people who have already been released. In addition, critics indicate that at least three hundred people are stuck who have participated in political protests in recent years.
