- United States women's national team forward Alyssa Thompson has moved to Chelsea from NWSL's Angel City FC for a reported $1.5 million deal with potential add-ons.

USWNT Forward Alyssa Thompson Signs for Chelsea

Alyssa Thompson, a prominent forward of the United States women's national team, has completed a transfer to Chelsea from Angel City FC in a deal reportedly worth $1.5 million.

Transfer Details

Chelsea is set to pay Angel City an initial fee close to $1.5 million, with the potential to increase to nearly $2 million with add-ons, sources confirmed. This transfer follows the recent record-breaking deal between London City Lionesses and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea's Pursuit and Injuries

Chelsea's interest in Thompson heightened, particularly after a hamstring injury to Mayra Ramírez, pushing for the 20-year-old's acquisition. Alyssa Thompson is the latest addition to Chelsea's roster, which already includes USWNT players Catarina Macario and Naomi Girma.

Thompson's Career and International Experience

Since being drafted as the No.1 pick in 2023, Alyssa Thompson has showcased her talent with 62 appearances and 15 goals in the NWSL. With 22 caps for the USWNT, Thompson's move to Chelsea marks a significant milestone in her career.

Chelsea is gearing up to kick off their Women's Super League campaign with a highly anticipated match against Manchester City, as USWNT stars continue to make their mark in the English football scene.
