USMNT's Tim Weah Joins Marseille on Loan

Tim Weah, the United States international, has made a significant move to Marseille from Juventus on an initial loan deal with an obligation for a permanent transfer, as confirmed by both clubs.

Return to Ligue 1

Weah, 25, who can play as a winger or full-back, returns to Ligue 1 after spells at Lille and Paris Saint-Germain. Despite joining Juventus in 2023, he had limited Serie A game time last season, starting only 18 matches.

Family Legacy

Following his father's footsteps, former Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, Tim Weah embarks on a new journey at Marseille. George had a brief stint at Marseille from 2000 to 2001.

Sources suggest Juventus aimed to free up space for new signings, leading to Weah's move. A transfer to Nottingham Forest was agreed upon initially, but Weah turned down the opportunity.

Champions League Ambitions

Marseille, finishing second in Ligue 1 last season, is set to compete in the Champions League. Weah's addition strengthens the team as they aim for success in the upcoming season.

Weah, with 44 appearances for the U.S. men's national team, missed the Gold Cup due to Juventus' Club World Cup involvement, featuring briefly in one match as Juventus exited early.

Weah expressed gratitude to Juventus on social media for fulfilling his childhood dream and looks forward to the new chapter at Marseille.
