USA International Jack McGlynn Joins Houston Dynamo
21-year-old American midfielder, Jack McGlynn, has officially joined Houston Dynamo from Philadelphia Union in a groundbreaking cash-for-player deal. This transfer marks just the second cash-for-player trade in MLS history, following Dejan Joveljić's move to Sporting Kansas City from LA Galaxy. The unique nature of this transfer was introduced as part of the 2025 MLS roster rule changes on Jan. 14.
Houston Dynamo has acquired McGlynn's services for $2.1 million, while Philadelphia Union will receive a percentage of any future fee if the midfielder is transferred again.
McGlynn, who came up through Philadelphia's youth system, made his MLS debut in April 2021. He earned his first call-up to the USMNT camp in January 2024, debuting on Jan. 20 in a friendly against Slovenia. His first international goal came on Jan. 28 this year, helping the USMNT secure a 3-1 victory over Venezuela.
