us, ukraine, russia - As talks intensify between Moscow and Washington to end the Ukraine war, the US warns Russia of more severe consequences.

US Calls for Peace in Ukraine

The US administration under President Donald Trump is pressuring Russia to end the Ukraine war, threatening with harsher sanctions. Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, warned Russia of initiating more damaging sanctions if the bloody war continues.

'Kiev Must Be at the Table'

Kellogg emphasized the importance of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to bring an end to the conflict, stating that President Trump is determined to achieve peace in Ukraine. The refusal of Russian President Putin to have Ukrainian President Zelenski at the negotiation table was met with criticism from the US and the EU.

Kellogg also stressed the need for both sides to make concessions once the guns are silenced, highlighting the essence of compromise in the negotiation process.

'Sanctions Will Toughen'

Warning of more destructive sanctions if the Kremlin does not agree to end the war, Kellogg praised President Trump's skill in handling sanctions. He mentioned that energy exports from Russia could be targeted.

Kremlin's Response

Russian President Putin's spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, stated that a meeting between Putin and Trump has not been officially discussed yet, urging for patience in deciding the necessity, timing, and location of the meeting.

Despite the Kremlin's cautious response, Trump announced plans to meet with Putin and Zelenski next week.
