U.S. Soccer Introduces Chesapeake Bay Retriever as New Mascot for World Cup

U.S. Soccer has unveiled a Chesapeake Bay retriever as the team's new mascot, chosen for its bright and happy disposition, courage, and intelligence. The mascot will wear No. 27 to represent the 27 national teams under U.S. Soccer.

Official Mascot Unveiled

The announcement was made ahead of the World Cup draw, with the federation highlighting the retriever's qualities that align with the team's spirit. Fans can participate in naming the mascot by joining the U.S. Soccer insider community and downloading the official app.

A Legacy of Canine Mascots

The selection of a dog mascot is not new for the United States, as in the 1994 World Cup, the team was represented by Striker, a popular pup created by Warner Bros. Animation. With the 2026 World Cup approaching, supporters hope the men's national team will embody the new mascot's characteristics of courage, intelligence, and teamwork.
