US Military Prepares for Drastic Reorganization Under Minister Hegseth's Plan

washington - Minister Hegseth aims to save tens of billions of dollars through a major restructuring of the US military.

US Military Faces Drastic Reorganization

The American military is gearing up for a significant restructuring as Minister Pete Hegseth seeks plans to cut annual spending by eight percent over five years, except for specific categories.

The US defense budget, totaling $850 billion, is one of the largest expenditures. The Pentagon spokesperson mentioned reinvesting saved funds into new military priorities like the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Minister Hegseth's directive clashes with President Trump's support for a budget proposal that increases defense spending by $100 billion and the US's commitment to raise NATO spending to 5% of GDP.

Hegseth aims to rebuild the military, eliminate bureaucracy, and end climate and diversity initiatives from previous administrations. Elon Musk's government efficiency team is also eyeing defense spending.

The Trump administration seeks ways to address the significant budget deficit, with warnings of potential bankruptcy due to the growing national debt.

Congress is expected to resist existing defense spending cuts even with the aim of reprioritization.
