Newly appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted a QUAD meeting in Washington with the Foreign Ministers of Japan, India, and Australia. The joint statement reaffirmed the commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific vision, emphasizing support for the rule of law, democratic values, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The four countries reiterated their determination to strengthen the free and open Indo-Pacific vision, which forms the foundation of security, development, and prosperity for the people of the region across various areas such as international law, economic opportunities, peace, stability, and maritime security.
