istanbul, turkey - US and Russian delegations held a second round of talks in Istanbul, drawing wide attention from the global media.

US and Russia Diplomatic Talks in Istanbul

US and Russian delegations met for the second time in Istanbul, attracting global media coverage. The meeting, hosted at the US Consulate General's residence in Istanbul, was highlighted by the world press. The diplomatic talks between the US and Russia took place in Istanbul following Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the initial contacts with the US administration hold promise for rebuilding intergovernmental relations and addressing accumulated systemic and strategic issues gradually through cooperation.

The US State Department announced the meeting as the 'February 27 Istanbul meeting,' where discussions on initiating talks regarding issues affecting the activities of diplomatic missions were launched between Foreign Minister Rubio and Foreign Minister Lavrov.

The US delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Russia and Central Europe Sonata Coulter, and the Russian delegation, led by Ambassador Aleksandr Darchiyev from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' North Atlantic Department, expressed concerns about access to banking and contract services, as well as ensuring stable and sustainable personnel levels at the US Embassy in Moscow. Constructive discussions resulted in both sides identifying concrete initial steps to stabilize bilateral mission activities in these areas.

Deputy Secretary Coulter and Ambassador Darchiyev agreed to hold the next meeting in the near future to determine the date, location, and number of representatives concerning these issues.
