Unrest in India after rape children

mumbai - In India, the mood is high because of two rape cases. One of the victims is an eight-year-old girl who was kidnapped by several men, raped and then murdered in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Muslim girl was part of a nomadic tribe. The police arrested eight suspects. Among them are a former government official and four police officers. The BBC reported that all suspects are Hindus. Nationalist groups of Hindus are furious over the arrests. They have, among other things, campaigned for a court in Jammu and Kashmir.

In another case, a member of parliament of the ruling nationalist Hindu party BJP has been in trouble. He is suspected of kidnapping and raping a sixteen-year-old girl in the northern state of Utter Pradesh nine months ago. The police did not do the work of the rape investigation, causing a storm of protest to erupt. The authorities have now handed over the case to the Indian investigation agency CVI.
