Unique Case: Baby Rafferty 'Born' Twice Due to Mother's Cancer

Baby Rafferty made a rare entrance into the world after his mother Lucy faced ovarian cancer during her pregnancy in the UK.

Medical Complexity

Complications arose during Lucy's pregnancy as scans revealed ovarian cancer with spreading tumors, prompting a unique medical approach to protect both mother and baby.

Rare Procedure

Doctors performed a complex operation in the twentieth week of pregnancy, temporarily delivering Rafferty to access and remove tumors. The procedure, involving a team of 15 doctors, lasted five hours.

A Double Birth

Weighing three kilograms, Rafferty Isaac was 'born' a second time in January in Oxford, marking a medical milestone for the family.

Gratitude to Medical Team

Parents Adam and Lucy expressed their gratitude by visiting the hospital to thank the medical team for their exceptional care. Adam, a musician, also received a kidney transplant in November 2022.
