UN wipes recognition from Jerusalem

new york - The General Assembly of the United Nations has rejected the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the United States. A resolution on this was adopted with 128 to nine votes. There were 35 abstentions.

The resolution states that the Americans must reverse their decision. Among the opposing voters include Israel, the United States and some island states.

Palestinian President Abbas called the outcome of the vote a victory for Palestine.
