UN wants investigation into fatal fire Venezuela

geneva - The United Nations human rights office has called for a thorough investigation into the deadly fire at a Venezuelan police station. Forty-eight people lost their lives on Wednesday when fire broke out after prisoners had revolted.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) points out in a statement the poor conditions under which detainees are often detained in the country. Prisons are regularly overcrowded and detention facilities of police stations are used as permanent detention centers, says the Ohchr.
