geneva - The United Nations Human Rights Agency has criticized the 'terrible, deadly violence' used by Israeli security forces against demonstrators. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) expressed great concern about possible new confrontations on Tuesday.
Palestinians protested on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Monday when dozens of people died. An OHCHR spokesman said that Israel has the right to defend the border, but that deadly violence must be a last resort. The shooting of Palestinians approaching the border fence is unjustifiable according to the spokesman.
