kiev - The Ukrainian military turns to old-fashioned shotguns to combat Russian drones effectively.

Antique Shotguns Against Russian Drones

It is still relatively easy for drone operators to evade ground shots with a gun. This is why Zelenski's army is now using old-fashioned shotguns typically used for hunting. A swarm of bullets makes it easier to hit a flying object.

Since the start of the war three years ago, multiple methods have been developed to destroy drones. Firstly, jammers that block the signal. Soldiers on the frontlines often carried sticks to try to swat away the flying bombs. Large nets were stretched on tanks and other military vehicles. There were even 'turtle tanks' with an additional house to reduce the impact of a drone explosion.

It remains a constant battle where innovations can make a difference, especially now that drones are being used on a massive scale. There are videos circulating of small swarms used to eliminate just one enemy soldier.

The production of remote-controlled bombs has literally taken off. Russia and Iran on one side, and Ukraine and NATO countries on the other, are now producing millions per year. The Netherlands joined a group from Latvia that promised a million drones this month.

And now, the old-fashioned shotgun or hunting rifle. There are images of soldiers shooting down drones from a trench. But there are also videos of hunting rifles being attached to drones to eliminate competitors in the air.
