simferopol - Inhabitants of the Crimea are allowed to vote for the first time in Russian presidential elections. Ukraine reacted angrily and took measures.

In total, about 1.5 million inhabitants can go from the annexed peninsula to the ballot box. The turnout was around 35 percent Sunday afternoon, reports the Russian electoral commission. He also said that dozens of observers from around twenty countries keep an eye on the Crimea.

It is a thorn in the eyes of the Ukrainian authorities that can be voted on the peninsula, which has been in the hands of Russia since 2014. Kiev called the Kremlin in vain to blow off the 'illegal' ballot box in Crimea, said Ukrainian Minister Arsen Avakov (Home Affairs) last week.

Kiev then decided to make Russians in Ukraine impossible to vote. Avakov said that voters do not have access to Russian diplomatic posts on Ukrainian territory. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called this an 'illegal' decision.
